foxface question

Just brought home a foxface. I've never had one before and I'm not sure if he's doing O.K. or not. Changes color sometimes( spotted) ,sleeps like a board where he kind find a spot. This is day #3 and I 'm not sure if he'sdoing good...or bad

Totally normal. Rabbits tend to be rather skittish fish. It would be a couple weeks before it settles down enough to stop flashing its cryptic colors, and many months before it stops diving for the rocks when you come near the tank.

keep heart though, mine now eats mysis from my hand, but lordy was he a wuss initially, and still ocassionally dives for the rocks.

Mine did the same thing the entire time he was in QT and then for another week or two after putting him in the main tank. He still changes color a little bit at night when he's hiding against the rocks.
He eats nori like he's starving and follows my true perc pair around like he needs to know what they're doing at all time.

Sounds exactly like the one I have, it however follows my sailfin tang around and has been doing so for several months. So from the sounds of things it is pretty much normal.

I see him pecking at he algae on the LR just like his buddy the purple tang, but he panics when I open the canopy to feed. I'll feel better when I see him eating more. I must admit he is a pretty cool fish. Different. (At least if you've never had one before)

Mine did the same. Mine took about 3 months to turn the bright yellow. He would stay brown. He hide for the first couple of weeks when I entered the room. Yours seams normal.

Foxfish turn spotty brown when frightened or even when sleeping. I've had mine for several years now and sometimes late at night catch him sleeping between rocks and brown blotches all over him. My foxfish always follows the tangs around or sometimes they follow him.

Yup, not Heniochus acuminatus, they are not considered reef safe, but a look al like relative ... I want to say duphratis ??? but I am not positive at the moment that that is the correct species.

Usually sold a schooling bannerfish

Great fish, I plan on having several in my 240

I love heni's and always dreamed of one in my tank. But never could 'cause I love reefs too much. Do you have a pict of yours?
Do they look the same ? And are they 100% reef safe?
Back in the "old days" before reefs I used to have a school of them. I always wanted another tank just for "not reef safe fish "but when I got the 180 my wife said no more. ( also I have no room but there's always room for another tank, right?)

never mind about the pict. I see yours now For some reason didnt open before.
It looks the same as the Heniochus acuminatus?
