Hi everyone,

I have the opportunity to buy a nice foxface but i'm kind of scared of having it in a tank with corals.

Do you consider the foxface a reef-safe fish ? Oh and i have zero algea in my tank, would that be a problem? Could i just supplement with nori?

What do you think?

yes foxface are great reef fish the best algae for them is ocean nutrition seaweed select with the clip and the well live of meat to but well lose color so stuff them with algae

Foxface aren't always reef-safe. They do have the potential to nip at corals just like angels. If you are planning on putting one in your 65 gallon, it may not be the best idea sine they are active swimmers and normally require a tank of at least 90 gallons.

Keep him well fed or he will eat your softies.

Elegance, open brains, even zenia might occasionally be nibbled on.

Well i will be getting a larger tank soon. I already find the 65 gallons tank too small, lol I guess a tank will never be large enough.

I'll have to think about this one. I have lots of corals in my tank and would hate to loose some. The guy who is selling it says it never touched his corals but i don't think he had very many in his tank anyway. Well thanks for the input.

I've had my foxface for a year and he's never so much as looked at my corals. I love him... very good fish and hardy. He made it though a power outage where all my other fish died (with the exception of 2 chromis). I have or have had in the past a pagoda cup, frogspawn, elegance, clams, ricordea yuma, etc. and he's never touched them. That's just been my experience with them. I wouldn't hesitate to get another if something should happen to this one.

foxface are reef safe and the donot nip at coral my foxface is in a 55gal for a year and is 8inch plus with six othe fish. fishsafari.com see the store
