Foxface scared my assesors into hiding

Hey all, on Friday I introduced a foxface rabbit to my 90 mixed reef. It was a small specimen but bigger than all my other fish, (3) yellow assesors and a pair of Picasso percs. The assesors have since disappeared into the rocks and I haven't seen them since Friday. The foxface is scared of it's own shadow, so I know it didnt attack anything. Even my little clowns stay to the top of the tank except at feeding time... Any advice on how to coax the assesors out of hiding? Its weird, they are small fish, but i cant find them anywhere. I know they can hide and like caves, when they first went in the tank 1 was MIA for three days before coming out so I know they can hide well.

You can't coax them except at feeding time. Don't mess with the tank and leave them be.

Assessors can be pretty cryptic anyway; I could go months between seeing our old one. I'd just give them time to adjust, and they'll probably start coming out again.

Exactly. However the behavior of these fish is never going to be out and about swimming in the middle of the tank.

jscarlata, Did yours sill swim upside down and sideways? It's soo awesome when they do that! Love this fish

YES! all the time, when out int he middle of the tank they were frequently sidwways looking up for food and at each other, when in the rocks they were mostly upside down...
the three i got went intot hte tank with a pair of picassos, all similiar in size, 2 of the 3 came out the very next day, and the 3rd didnt make himself known until 3-4 days after going in. I was convinced it was dead, but sure enough it came out. they were always out and about until the foxface when in. the foxface is cool, but so easily scared, its funny that the assesors went into hiding. i tried watching the rocks etc to see if they poked heads out during feedings, but didnt see anything.

They came out today...my son told me he saw all three swimming around this afternoon, I've seen one so far, doing the sideways thing

good! We have one where I volunteer and I love that lil thing. It's awesome. Mostly stays right along the rock swimming with it's belly facing the rock.
