Foxface with corals?

How bout what NOT to...

Open brain, elegance, meat coral...

then again, you may get lucky.

Just keep him well fed with nori.
 
I have had my foxface in my tank since day 1 and I have a lot of lps and sps in my tank. I have a open brain, elegance leathers, frog spawns, hammers and he is fine. All my corals are doing great as well. Keep him well fed and you should be fine. They are pigs and will eat anything and everything you put in the tank. Good luck!
 
Mine is a model citizen. I've got meaty LPS, zoa's, SPS, pretty much a mix of everything, and he's never touched anything. Guess I got lucky...
 
same here..i have sps, lps, softies and my foxface hasnt touched a single thing. i actually wish he would eat more of this damn bubble algae though!
 
Avoid Trachy's and most Meaty LPS, and you'll be fine.
They are great at eating some algae, I love my One-spot.

Is the fish already in the tank? If so, it's best to assume that any coral you add may be sampled. The fish become accustomed to eating what you put in the tank, so it's harder to add things once the fish is established. Conversely, IME, they're less likely to start chewing on things that are already stable in the tank.
While many really like brains and meaty LPS, as noted above, I have seen then eat just about anything. The last one I had didn't touch any corals, so they can be great fish in that regard. They are my favorite algae eaters, because they devour a lot of things that other fish don't touch.
 
Yes, right now i have the Foxface, a Blue Hippo Tang, one ocellaris clown, and Purple Tang with about twenty snails and 35 hermit crabs with over 100 lbs of live rock. I am running two 40 watt flourscents and 65 watt power compacts.

I am thinking of adding some starter corals now that i have had time to get my tank in order. I am using a refugium with Miracle mud, with chaeto and three red mangroves.
 
Since the fish is already there, it is going to be more iffy. I'm also a little concerned about the tank size with those three large fish. Look at videos of BrianD's 500g tank, and you'll see what hippo tangs can get like. I felt that our foxface was starting to get a little cramped in our 200g.

I wouldn't keep one in anything less than six feet long.
