Frag plug users, which ones do you like best

I think I may order some frag plugs in the future so I can start fragging some zoas and stuff. I've just been using some small pieces of rubble for the few that I have fragged but I think it would be easier if I just got some plugs. Just curious which kinds that people like best?

Boston Aqua Farms has good ones.....plus they have both disks and plugs, they donated some stuff to us I can bring a plug and a disk if you want to look at them.

I assume you must be the one selling these as every post you have points in that direction. I've seen those on ebay before, if I remember right you're located in IA. Maybe you could send a free sample bag for the club to check out. ;)

I wouldn't mind seeing the discs though to see how big they are.

Has anyone tried the ceramic ones from here?

I've used all three. If you really want to be anal and compare them, I prefer the color and texure of the Boston Aqua Farms over the ceramic. The only drawback is that they're more fragile and easier to break the stem off the mounting plate.

The ceramic plugs look a little more unnatural and would take a little longer to blend in with your tank. They're definitely stronger than the cement plugs though.

In the end, I don't think it matters too much on which one you use. Price is about the same also. Anyway here's a pic for comparison purposes.

I like the molded pvc ones that a guy in AZ sells. The disk verson still has the ability to attach to eggcrate which is nice.

I like the discs for zoas. It makes it a lot easier to frag once you get a small colony growing... all you have to do is take a screwdriver and brake a chunck off. The plugs are better for SPS because you can stick them in a hole w/ epoxy and hardly notice them.

I was unaware that you are not allowed to post links in the threads as I browse I see links to websites everywhere  Maybe someone wants to elaborate on this for me?

I am going to order some of the ones that the commerical controversey is over. They look like a good product, the price is right, and they are made fairly local.

Jamie, pm on how to order these from you without using the paypal link from your website. I only use paypal if I log directly on to it.

The ones that I use are now called coralcradle. I ordered some last year in disk and plug and love them. It looks like you have to order them from a retailer now.

I like whatever brand Allen uses. They are brittle but I actually like that because if you don't have a hole to put the frag in you can snap to post off and glue it to something flat.

I don't like the bigger clunky ones. The one from Dr. F&S greenhouse are huge.

heh...he said anal.....

Yeah...probably not a good idea to use "that" word when we're talking about plugs. Thanks for getting us off-topic dude! :D

Well I ordered the ones from Oceans Wonders Online. I will give you guys an update as to what they are like.

I also requested some samples to hand out to the group at the QC Pizza Party this weekend. I will let you know if he provides the samples or not.
