FRAG SWAP! Anaheim - Saturday: May 12, 2007

looking like the heat will break after today and should be mild and sunny for saturday!
bring shade (ie ez-up, or old school umbrella like Steve G does sometimes) and tables and chairs if you got them as shaded spots (gazebo, under the deck, etc) go fast from past experience.

The only problem is I'm a frag swap noobie and have no idea how this works! Do I just individually bag each frag I'm bringing? Is there a place to float them to maintain temp? It seems like it's trading and swapping, right? Please help a noobie out...

Bags work good, but styrofoam cups w/ lids work best IMO. Not only is it easy to pop the lids to show your frag, but styrofoam works as a great insulator at keeping your water temp consistent. A "sleeve" of cups is available at Smart & Final for $10-$12.

Some of the guys at the swap will come w/ a small tank & light setup, although if you have less then 20 frags, it's not worth the time or effort IMO.

You'll have a great time. Lots of food & great people. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces & meeting a whole lot of new ones!!!

I still have a ton of fragging to do for these next two weekend. I just got off the phone with ORA and they are sending me a nice sized order Friday.

Tonight is inventory and update for pics. Then I will put out a pricelist.


Does anyone know a head count for the swap? I am trying to figure out how many corals to bring.

I'll be doing a lot of 20 dollar frags too... Big ones, I am trimming the tank down.

My colors are really starting to come out with the new bulbs.

I might just snap off some big colonies and frag per request.

I have found when I put the big colonies back in the tank next to the original colony, it just grows back together.

BTW - in the coral growing challenge... my plana now has a turquouise base.. chocolate polyps and light blue tips.. by far the prettiest of all the frags.
