Frag swap was packed

The Survey should answer alot of questions we had for the event. A bigger hall would be better but it will cost alot more its hard to find the a palce that is big enough cost effective and has plenty of power we are always looking for good places. That being said I like the Sky View alot and would go back there next year.

i agree with zak ill take the beer over the space they dont call me chuggy for nothing:)
although more space would have been nice, if its at the same place next year ill buy a vendor table

New jer-z, i met you out in front before the swap and a few times during. glad you enjoyed it. you are right, some one always complains but if the majority was happy than we did good. and i for 1 think we did good. pleasure to meet all the new people and put faces to the names.

This was my first Frag Swap and I want to say that I felt really welcomed. I learned a lot from this swap i.e. bring something to carry the frags home in, have an idea of what I want prior to arriving oh and leave ATM card at home (to prevent multiple trips to cash machine lol..)

Being in the military I realized that people are not going to like somethings no matter what. I think it's easy to point out the downfalls and sometimes we forget to make a suggestion to correct them. I'm always willing to lend a helping hand. I work at an Army Armory which has a hall sized room could be handy for for the next swap.

Drop me a line if interested.

Once again thanks to all who made the Army guy walking around aimlessly feel welcomed!

I unfortunately didn't get to meet you, but easily remember who you were. Thank you for your service sir.

Crowded...yes. Power issues...yes.
But the people that run the Lodge were terrific. We had pretty much the run of the place, the beer was cold, the food was hot and the people volunteering were incredible!
I don't know how the folks that run the Skyview felt about us. I think it could be utilized again now that we know the short comings.

A special thanks out to Jen you did a heroic job! Well done!

I was only unhappy with one total frag and it was from syurkovi. Photo had to be edited. No way those are blue zoas like the pic. Even with the blue lighting they are no where near blue in any way. Anyone else unhappy with a frag from anyone? Thanks DonDon. The eagle eyes I got from you are way more than what was posted. Thanks so much.

I have seen them in his tank and they are Blue. They are like some blue SPS, you have to blast them in light to keep them blue. He has them under his ATI Powermodule. What lighting do you have and where were they placed. PM him here YURKO is his name.

Superman for only $40! Great deal huh?

Jeff I think I found out what coral hitch hiked on the LR I bought from you... Looks like the little one I just bought from you today huh. lol...

I got this same coral. Looks great and was a great deal for a large frag. Does anyone remember the name of the person who sold these supermans? It was the table with the 3 tanks stacked. I believe they were a vendor and wanted to see if they had a site.

Yeah, so far not blue at all. Like you said, he told me to keep them up high for them to color up nice.

Tom: Thanks for the input, I was curious about them too.

They should be blue to begin with.. I have 2 250mh and 196w of pc lighting over a 40g breeder so I have tons of light.

Yeah that sounds like plenty of light for a 40 breeder! PM him and see what he says. Sorry can not help you here.

"He might ship if you call. He was a good guy. Knew his stuff.."

I will have to do that someday. The superman that I purchased from him looks GREAT! All of the corals he had were fairly priced and a great size. I hope you guys can pull off another swap later this year.

wow, lot's of replies to my thread, I am honored.

My fiance and I were about the 8th people there and waited in the cold for the doors to open....we were not disappointed. We LOVED seeing that so many people showed up. We spent about 250 dollars in 20 minutes, and had to call it quits.....

My only regret is that I would prefer some kind of environment that allows people to meet and talk a bit better....I have no specific ideas on the matter, but we love to meet fellow hobbiests, and it was a bit hard to do there.

On the survey, I suggested an 8 hour event and a larger place.

All in all we looked forward to it for months, and we were NOT disappointed.

We live right here in Medina, I grew up and went to school in Brunswick, and we got items you NEVER see for sale at any store around here locally....thank you all, and I look forward to the next one.

My only wish, and I have no ideas how, is that the event somehow makes it easy to meet hobby related people and talk more instead of just all business.

You should definitely check out club meetings. A much more intimate setting that allows for more interaction with fellow hobbyists. And the good news, they happen every month, not just once a year!

We did initially have an area for eating/gathering, but when we realized just how crazy the turnout was going to be, we converted it into hobbyist table space. It is high on the list of things to consider for next year. When this was originally planned, gas was $4 a gallon, and every club had an "out-of-work club" thread. So we were only anticipating 200-250 (about 50 less than last year) and had only ever had 4 or 5 vendors....SO...next year all that will be taken into account and more. Maybe even form a committee, or "event planning" position that deals with the December party, frag-a-thon,frag-swap and any extras the club decided to do.

One of these days we'll hit it dead on. Keep filling out those surveys, I'm absolutely addicted to reading them.

i think you guys hit it dead on as could be ,,, it was nice as heck !!! as C-Sea picks up members ( not sure but it think you have had a good number of new members ?? ) the numbers will grow at the C-Sea swap , heck there are people from all surrounding states that come, as the word gets out and as they drag their friends into this hobby , theres nothing that would indicate a decline in the number of people who will come to the swap... did you all see what the swap at PSU is doing ?? 15 bucks to get in , includes a buffet . i dont like the times for the swap , only 2 hours , but with only 100-200 hundred people , that could be all they need . with our swap pushing 400 folks , and next year you can count on the same numbers , and then some !! seems to grow each year by a pretty good number.. we will need to grow with the venue too. but steps at a time . could use the same hall next year and bump up the price a bit , to gain some capitol for the following years swap at a bigger place , if there is one , might have to step out into the burbs to find one though ,,,,, i know Jen did all kinds of checking , but does Tri C, LCCC , Cleve state , John Carrol , BW and of the local campuses have space ??
