frag swap

There have been conflicts with activities at neighboring clubs. I'm sure the BOD will work it out soon. We need to be patient with them. Scheduling and planning an event such as a frag swap is not an overnight project.
 
Just keep monitoring the mars website and mostly this forum, Once the BOD picks a date that is good for everyone. They will post it on here, So just keep an eye out.
 
The October 14th date will not work due to the conflict with the BAR monthly meeting. Please be patient and an announcement will be made when the details are worked out.

With the limited number of people on the BOD now and the large amount of work involved in preparing for a frag swap and raffle, would it be better to just reschedule it for another time since nominations for vacant BOD positions is coming in December? Then everyone on the BOD can participate and spread the workload.
 
Unfortunately, the frag swap has been cancelled for this Fall. Please see the BOD announcement post for information about future plans for MARS.
 
Perhaps we should try to put one together again. What do you think, Edwin?

I can try and book our HOA's clubhouse. It has a max capacity of 125, and would roughly cost us $250 for the day and $250 for deposit. We could call it a 'Regional Club Frag Swap'.

If you're willing to put one together, I can check with the rest of the BOD to see if they are willing to help fund it. The reason why the BOD decided to cancel it was because October 7th was coming up to fast, and most of us are going to be busy. October 14th was the date we wanted to do it, but that conflicts with BAR's meeting. When we were originally discussing it, we felt that Oct 21st might be a little late, and you risk a chance of having rain.

Let me know what you like, and I'd be more than happy to see if the club can pay for the event. I'd be more than happy to help, but my time is very limited until the beginning of next month.

I think it would be fun to have all the clubs get together for a Frag Swap before the holidays. I can look into the available dates for clubhouse use. I'll also try to make arrangements for tables and chairs.

I was thinking of doing a small entrance fee ($5) to help cover the clubhouse, but if MARS can put up the $500 (and hopefully get back the $250 deposit if we don't party too hard), than I guess it wouldn't be necessary.

I was going to ask about the Funds, I dont have the money to cover $250 but would not mind helping out with anything for the club.

I know I tried one, but my place would be too small for a multi club event.

Maybe we can use a community center or something along those lines also....Just some idea's

I will propose it to the BOD. I personally think it's a great idea. Especially since some of the members are willing to coordinate the event! And if you can get a BBQ grill, I'd be more than happy to BBQ. :D

I can help out...

I'm still recovering from back surgery, so I can't do any lifting. I am new to reef keeping, and still on the steep part of the learning curve. However I am proficient with a BBQ, and more than willing to learn along the way.
