Frag Tank

Ive noticed that the STARS has their own frag tank. and i thought to myself NMOK should have one too. I think it would boost the DBTC idea by leaps n bounds and maybe attract more active membership? what is everyone's thoughts on this?

I'm for whatever system is successful with the group There is some (small) momentum with DBTC already. In my past club (which I am still semi active with), DBTC is amazingly successful. There are also a few members with club frag tanks or racks in main tanks, which are used to buffer frag swaps with a captive prop source. Both can work

My comment earlier was that they don't really work as one, but both can worth to serve the same goal.

OMG you guys need to slow down, you have not even had your second meeting.(TVguy you have never been, anyway think you need to focus on your own TANK) The idea for a STARS frag tank came from the Oklahoma Club check out their forum a lots of people and paid membership
How about just having this be an online club for now and using the reef central forum to communicate, help each other out, and entertain one another and organize group buys. People could still meet up if they wanted every once and a while butt wouldn’t be necessary. If we could just find some good people (that can communicate using a keyboard) willing to participate start there, and bulid. So I think if you would like to work on something, we should all try to recruit one or two people next time u are at the fish store. If you look around at other clubs they support their LFS and the LFS supports them, there has never been any support from our favorite fish shop maybe if we get our numbers up It would force the fish shops to help out with give-aways, coupons things like that! the things they should have done along.. what are you doing here STRAYelectrocuted thought I this forum was to up and down for you, next month you will visit our forum and we will all be gone---->>>>

I'm tending to agree. As much as I'd like a full fledged club right now that is saving the world, causing making world piece, ending global warming, and supplying me with endless amounts of perfect beer and wine, starting slowly is smarter

I did have something to say until the stupid thing didnt accept post and lost it all. so quickly the finer points were

just thinking out loud to boost activity
my tanks fine its not a baby that needs to be coddled
you make a reef club, other words u get what u put into it
dont get mad/hate at me but online clubs? seriously if ya gonna do something do it great or stay home. see ya on the 19 lmao (if yall still have me).

and so far most people here dont support my favorite fishie store and i dont blame ya for the reasons i be upset too. but i think we (meaning sw hobbyists) need more then just online (which is lacking to begin with) this city really lacks in saltwater hobbyist stores/support and those of us who love this hobby need more then just a good LFS. theres enough of us here in the city to support the store why not a full fledged club? start out small yes i can fully support and understand but its gonna stay that way unless ya do something about it. one noone knows its here or that you guys meet once a month. someone needs to reach out for anything to grow. sitting here online and waiting you end up waiting forever for noone.
i can survive without a club but it would be nice to see more. Im sure our LFS will gladly take my money and those who loves this hobby. But dont ya wanna do more then just that?

yeah definitely Gomer and C-men I am with you. I believe that if we can take it in small steps I think it will be much more successful. In the past it has been too much too soon and people weren’t really invested in the club(no fallow through). I think if we can be successful with membership, group buys, and helping each other out here on Reef Central then we can take it to the next level. This is not to say that people can’t meet up if they want too but let’s work on getting our number up. I think that is a smart way to go. OOOOOOORRRR tomorrow morning we can start a club frag tank, raffle of a new skimmer off, have a meeting in the evening, and have a frag and equipment swap all at TVGuys’ house. JK…. I also agree with Seamen; work on your tank TVGuy hide that temperature probe for starters. Oh by the way, sum-one should SEEsick if ROB wouldn’t mind if we put up a reef central flyer at his store so we could attract more people to our forum / website.. we should talk to Clarks also…..

lmao true true. when my new one comes in its gone i have like three sets of temp probes all in different spots. and of course we can do the meeting, frag and equipment swap here. and since when did my name become TVGuy? hilarious. show me the flyer ill ask him i got no problems with that. and btw when i mentioned we should have a frag tank maybe i shouldve worded it like this: lets get together and talk about one and by no means im hosting a frag tank i ran outta room for another tank with this one. wife would kill me too. lmao besides my tank is still growing in the coral department. and why is everyone telling me to focus on my tank? i like it im in the waiting part of this algae growth and as usual with me im never done with it even if it ever gets full. oh another thing im up for a group buy on salt like soon can we organize one of those real quick? if not i be going to lfs to get another bucket.

It was going to fast too soon ..and with the 3sw stores we were moving along..
Unfortunately it came came crashing down really quick because no one was really invested for the long term and because of competition among the stores it made it more of a popularity contest..This is what seamen is saying ...get things running smoothly and get reefers interested in coming first..then move ahead..
We have done this and since we are seeing a new interest lately we can proceed..
Gomer may be able to give us fresh ideas since he has come from a town with a large club..

BTW I assume Ntvper you came from another town since you've done this 20 yrs. but don't know the happenings on here RC and LFS scene.?

That would be great if you could put up a flyer at SWRC I think it would help to boosted our numbers. I'm down to try to put up some flyers at LFS'..Maybe if ROB is down he can get free advertising for swrc and his new store in RR all he has to do is let us put the flyer up!
I'll hit up my other old stomping ground as well (CLARKS)..Im sure they will let us put up a flyer there...WE need an artististic type to make a flyer otherwise I can get some Aquarium photos and make one..
BTW a thought occured to me ..NMOK had a ledger of all members and a bank account when we all paid our dues..When Jen and Eric quit what happened to all this ?
THE FUNDS were never used for anything to my knowledge since we always had our meeting hosted at homes...
WE may be able to boost interest immediately by contacting all of the members..
