frag zoas in tank?

I have a big problem, I have a colony of zoas that I have had about 6 months and the last few days they havent all been opening up and tonight I noticed that some polyps look sick. I want to take them out and dip them but about 12 new polyps have grown on a huge rock that sits next to them and has other things stacked on it. Is it safe to cut them in the tank so I can free the colony and treat them?

you would probably want to take them ont and frag them in a comtainer different from your tank.
