fragging anemones

Hi! I have 2 Long Tentacles Anemones splitted from a friends mother LTA !

They have tentacles very similar to Bubble Anemones but they have the DOTS on theyre boddy to state its LTA :)

Its rare but they split!

I have one of them that is huge thats almost splitting !

The rubber thing is very good idea, but the rubber needs do pressionate theyre "mouth" correct ?? So i needed to take the anemone out of the tank rip it out of the ROCK and put the rubber!

That would be hard work!

I was thinking on the cutting them in Half but im not sure since they already splitted once by it self, ill just wait for the natural splitting :)

THo i have 3 Bubble tips that pretty soon ill test this cutting in half :)

Do you have any pictures of this anemone?

yeah about the rubber band thing how would you do that, and where exactly do you put a rubberband?

Why not just cut it. Its faster that way and saves you time. Its a more "efficient way" of cutting your anemone too.

Them :) !

Bro as you posted some thread of a carpet being cut and all fish dying didnt sounded good for me hehehehe!

Not sure if Bubble tip will have same effect but something to avoid cuting the anemone and still helping it split would be much better!

still Cuting it would be little 2 agressive for me :) perhaps theres other ways!

The Bubble i have the owner had 4 splits in 1 and a half year ! thats allot...

Hmmm NOWwww thinking perhaps cuting i could have 8 in that same time ? :P hehehe

Anyone ever cutted theyre bubble tip and have picture showing where to cut and theyre success with it ?

And as I said, perhaps even other better way to split besides cuting !

Details needed :)

Thnx

Mottus...the picture posted is a BTA...

Cutting it is the best way. The rubber band would cause long term irritation and stress and will likely result in infection for the clones.

Slakker its isnt BTA its LTA :)

Im sure of it.

It has some white dots on theyre body like a LTA...

About the BTA Ill try cutting one in near future ;)

I probably wouldn't rubberband(rb) an anemone. I probably wouldn't cut one either, but the rb method would be more difficult and stressful IMO. Think how tight you would have to rubberband it so it didn't "flow" out, and how difficult it would be to put this tight rb on you 8-24" anemone and line it up according to the mouth.

As far as cutting being less stressful then "naturally" splitting, prossibly, as splitting is a reaction to stress.

I am always curious as to why people say that nems tend to slpit over "stress". In the wild, in open water where they have the best conditions that they are going to have vs. our little tanks do they multiply to continue to create more of themselves? or because they are stressed? I would tend to believe that they split to continue to populate, not because some stressfull conditions have come their way. I guess it is something to think about further. Sorry for getting a little off topic here.

"derived from either too much stress, or propitious circumstances"

Taken right from the cloning/propagation section of that article.

propitious= definition- convenient or beneficial or favorable.

All anemones go through sexual reproduction however some go through asexual reproduction such as E. Quadricolor.

Slakker, that's a LTA, not BTA...

you need to contact me no nemo. She propgated a huge Red Carpet Anemone and both haves healed up really well and went to good homes.
