Fragging Chalice With A Bandsaw

Is there a 'correct' way to frag chalice corals with a bandsaw? Just got my first Gryphon and wondered if there were any tips or methods I should be aware of.

Agree to cut between the eyes. I also suggest keeping several eyes together on the frag. From what I have read the frag may grow/heal quicker the larger the frag is.

The ones I have seem with multiple eyes always seem to look the best. There is a problem with some people fragging them and trying to keep 1 eye per frag for sales purpose, but at least two eyes seem to do better and look better IMO.

yes between the eyes and it should be fine.. i have in the past fragged pieces without eyes but not all chalices are good for that.. still if you cut a piece not matter how small by mistake, just glue it to a plug cus i might make it..

I read somewhere that you need to keep part of the edge with each frag. Can't remember where or when I read it or if its true or not. Someone might be able to confirm/deny this.

I have a large chalice that i have accidently broke pieces off numerous times. I have found that if there is a eye on the piece it always survived. It did not matter if it it was on the edge or not.

I have made many frags this way, mine have always been on the edges, however I have had some survive without an eye, but most failed.
