Fragging Chalice

I have recently picked up some nice chalice. Wondering how one might frag these out. Do you place them on another flat rock and let them grow off on to the rock then cut them away in small pieces to prop into other frags.
I hear they are fast growers.

If you go to jendub.com she has a nice write up with pictures on how to frag chalices. You have to go to the blog section & on the left side of the screen it will say Propagation Tips click on it & you are there.

For the most part they grow pretty slow. But I do have a few that grow pretty fast, of course those are then really nice ones. But I have a watermelon that didn't grow at all for like 2 months, then all of a sudden in 1 month it doubled in size. Now it hasn't grown at all for like the last 2 months. I don't know.........

For quick & easy try a new set of bypass pruners (rose pruners).

You can also use a dremel tool or a screwdriver & hammer depending on how thick the skeleton is

What the seller might have meant as fast growth when comparing to other chalices. Chalices are grow slowers, at least about 5 frags and 1 large colony in my tank.

I would have to agree chalices are slow growers. I do have a few thats fast. The Stoners red watermelon is one of them. I can frag it and 2 mos later you'd never know it , it seems to grow faster after fragging. I have heard of others having the same experience after fragging some chalices.

This is how i frag my chalice. I take a dermel with a diamond blade and deeply score the bottom of it them just snap it, or use Rose Pruners like JenDub said. A good thing to know is you want to have 1 eye/mouth per frag. This is so they can get food. Then you would want to mount it on a frag disc or a rock.
