Fragging Dendro (no dremel)

I probably wouldn't attempt it without either a dremel or diamond blade band saw.

You might be able to use a fine bladed hack saw.

I have a hacksaw, but would you guys recommend it? Its in just a 10g tank and its getting too big for the tank... I dont really want to part with the whole thing either.

If that were my only option, I'd try it. I'd also dip the frags afterwards in an iodine solution (drugstore povidone, Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure) to disinfect.

In my opinion and dendro fragging experience, what you want to avoid is fracturing the hard skeleton rim of each polyp. Cut between the heads, not through them.

Well I guess I'll give it a go then, and ya I wont be trying to go through the younger heads that havent really seperated much from each other. Thanks for the help

I have had a sun coral arrive with the cracks in the skeleton tube and found that smaller heads start to grow were the crack is. I am thinking if maybe i had one skeleton broke into a couple small sizes it would grow new heads. Its really cool looking i have to see if i can get some pics up. It happens more with the yellow colored Tubastrea than the orange.

Haven't used it. It appears to be a supplement versus a generic disinfectant. Not saying it wouldn't work (probably would), but I'd be unsure of dosage for making a disinfecting dip.
