Fragging duncans - HELP

My duncans have got so big now they are shadowing each other out, some of the heads are not expanding as much as they could because the stalk of the other heads is blocking them, make sense?

I have attached a paint diagram of what i would like to do, can you please tell me if this is ok to do or no??? The orange represents the heads/polyps!!

Notice, im going to cut into the brown material, this is because it is not as ''alive'' as the green and i read that cutting into the green can cause infections and possibly death.

they are all still connected together. if your branch is that long it should be ok. probably another head will grow on that end. .

Fragging went well, i now have four frags instead of two, they all have loadsa heads and i target fed them today with lobster eggs which the really enjoyed, there settled down again now aswell!!

Nice. Duncans are perhaps the easiest LPS coral to fragment, along with Caulastrea.

As of right now, mine have just balled up without much branching and therefore not easy to frag. with time will they branch more of the ball. or should i just split the ball the best I can?

Hello, do not split them, target feed them and they will grow quickly, you have to have some sort of stalk on them and cutting from the balled bit is when you can lead to infections, it can be done but i personally would wait until they are bigger!! You will also get more money for them if you decide to sell them as well lol

Target feeding daily will help them grow considerably faster!!

What is the best things to feed duncans? I just feed them what I feed my fish and bubble coral: a mixture of frozen brine, frozen cyclopeze, vitachem, chromoplex, and mashed up vege rounds and freeze dried cyclopeze.

I pretty much feed most of these as well, plus mysis. I also feed Rod's Food, this has even more stuff in it like squid, veggies and clams.

You can also try moving them to a little higher flow area. My colonies seem to stay more ball shaped in lower flow, and start branching out with more flow.
