Fragging Hammers

I have a colony of Hammer Corals and wanted to know if i could cut them in half. The base is one large piece (4 inches by 2 inches).

Yes you can frag them its alot easier to frag the branching hammer than the wall hammer bc of the branches. But let us know.

Branching, you just cut the heads from the base with something like a bone cutter, the wall species most be fragged with some sort of saw, BTW the wall species does not have the protruding calcium bases.

I would not risk it. How ever you cut it there will be tissue damage and a chance of fungus, decay, infection and such.

I believe i read something about wrapping an elastic band around a wall hammer and letting the gentle pressure of the band kind of cut thru the tissue over a couple of weeks then you can cut with a saw with out endangering the tissue.
Please research this method, i could be wrong!

Pick your self up some branching varieties and then you can go frag crazy.
