What the current status of having Frags on AirPlanes? I want to attend the coral farmers markey, but have no idea how the frags would make it home with it being a sunday and no feddex. Can they be checked or carried on?
Supposedly, liquids are permissable, now. But, I think it's limited to only a few ounces. You should triple-check with the airlines 800# service as well as their front desk (and take down their names).
the limit is 4 oz per container, and all containers packet together in a clear ziplock bag. You could consider transporting them wrapped in damp paper towels. I have heard of people shipping overnight that way for years.
I am former TSA, and have transported frags many times(before liquid ban). Pack them well and submit as checked baggage. DO NOT ask airlines! They will either deny or charge xtra. I have brought them home in my checked baggage with no losses. BTW there is no liquid limit to checked baggage just weight, hiccup:beer:
The question is are they rough being checked in with baggage. Cant you see them flinging your suitcase into a corner and having the frag flopping all around in there
I have been flying every week for a while now and I know the liquid limit is 3oz in Tampa and JFK airports.
Before then I carried on frags many times and no problems. I agree DON'T tell them you have them or else they will deny or charge extra. I would get your frags and put them in a cardboard box packed well and then put them in the cargo section. Better yet bring a carry on and then check your carry on when you come back.
