Frags/colonies for sale

I have some good sized frags/colonies that I haven't anymore room for so are for sale:

First up - A Blue Ridge fire coral. This guy is something of a throwback in time. Every so often (like twice a month) it will extend its polyps and look amazing. It was blue, but I think the low iron levels (did not dose iron) might have helped it switch to brown. A great grower and very decent size for those looking for something not frag size. Whole colony - $25

Next is a large mini-colony of a purple rimmed Monitpora cap. This guy grows very fast and is about to spiral (which means more edges to turn purple). With so many caps in the tank, this one has to go. Whole mini colony - $15

A very nice neon green hydnaphora colony - looks well under actinics and very hardy. Just do not let it touch any other SPS - :(. Whole colony - $40

I also have some very nice sized pieces of my pink base/blue top Acropora Prostrata that also need new homes. Here is a pic of the mother colony - very beautiful coral and easy to care for as far as SPS go. - $20 frag (1"+)

And last, I broke many pieces off my Acropora Nana colony. So I have some good sized frags (at least 1"+) for $20 each. Here is a pic of the mother colony. Green/beige base with purple/blue ends and neon yellow polyps.

The only catch - you have to pick them up soon. I have many on them in my sump with decent lighting a great flow, but due to their size I will need to move them soon so that they get better light.

Just a heads up, the blue ridge is brown when it's healthy, a lot of blue means it's receding. The skeleton is blue due to the iron salts that it uses to build the skeleton. Awesome piece, wish i had the money. And it is a soft coral despite having a hard skeleton.

Kevin,

Caps are a great beginner coral IME and do well in most water and lighting conditions. I think anybody starting out into more of the hard type corals should have a couple. I would rank the hydnaphora as low key as well, just be sure it does not come in contact with another SPS - very potent sting. It needs moderate lighting and decent water params (not pristine, just decent). This particular one is a neon yellow/green, I personally have not seen too many of these.

The blue ridge is a bit of a weird one. Like Matt mentioned, it is not an SPS coral by definition, but seemed to pretty much like just about anything I had it in. I fragged a couple pieces awhile back and it closed over within a couple weeks. I bought that colony for $50 from our friends in Rocklin on an impulse buy and have been happy with it since. Just need the room now. :)

Hope this helps!

I can't believe you're handling that fire coral with your hands! I use to have one and it gave me wicked burns. I finally just got rid of it because I kept forgetting and touched it with my bare hands. Always a mistake for me. Perhaps yours doesn't sting?

Yea, probably not the best idea grabbing corals like that, no matter what type it is... but this one has never stung. I have manhandled it, fragged it, and even called its mother names. It has been tamed like a good little coral. :D

Count me in for a "pink base/blue top Acropora Prostrata"

Cool, you got it! I think this will look fabulous in your main tank. Still a few more frags available...

Mike:

I'd want the cap and am thinking about frags of your acros and the fire coral. Paul knows what I'm going through with my water right now-definately not in the "pristine" catagory yet. What do you think? My SPS frags that I have now are alive, just not extending their polyps.

Ok, PM box cleared... I know its so irritating you draft up that whole message and when the box is full and you go back... all of its gone!

John, these are not corals that require anything in the pristine level. Most are good beginner corals/colonies. About the most demanding would be the Nana in my book, everything else is pretty agreeable with balanced water params. Personally, if you are having issues with the water or you are in the middle of troubleshooting, I like to isolate my variables and that typically involves not adding/changing anything that is not part of your logical deduction process of getting to the bottom of your issue. This could also extend to adding new livestock depending on how much of a problem you are having.

Now in my selfishness I would say go ahead, buy all my corals! But honestly I want you to enjoy them as I have versus seeing them deteriorate - but only you can make that call. I would be more than happy to share my extremely limited wisdom in helping you get your water issues figured out (no purchase required :D).

Dude, count me 'in' for any appropriate frags. Let's hook up any day outside of Mother's Day.

Please be specific on which ones you want, need to know which ones are spoken for out of fairness for the rest of the folks.

John,

Dude those particular colonies are currently spoken for already. Sure you do not want a nice large hydnaphora? Or how about some killer sized frags of some nana or prostrata? ;)

JUST ADDED:

I also have a sweet green Turbinaria Cup or Pagoda Cup coral approx 6" in diameter and a great shade of green/blue. Awesome polyp extension, and in great health. No special care required, will filter feed as you feed your fish. I do not have pics right now becuase I am lazy and the lights are off. - $40 or $70 if you pick up both the hydnaphora and pagoda colonies.

UPDATE:
