Frags from last AC meet - Millepora and a Blastomusa

How are everyone's frags doing they got at the AC meet last month? The millepora is starting to overtake the glue gel I attached it with. It seems pretty happy as well as the blastos. Both are fully opening.

I do have one question though. When setting the individual frags for the blastos, should they have been placed close to each other? Also, should they have been trimmed more? Right now they look rather awkward. =\

I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow or the next day. This Coralife Super Skimmer I bought is actually sitting on the front glass atm until I get it put in my sump.

My blasto is looking great (in a frag tank) and I didn't do a milli which I may wish I had if mine doesn't make it :(. I bet that blasto was awsome in its huge form! VERY cool of the critter to donate that to the club.

I guess the milli doesn't require much light? I do have it on the top half of my tank... but I only have 2x96w lights. Regardless.... it appears to be doing well with all polyps looking happy and like i said.. its overtaking my gel glue growing downward. :)

one of the balsto frags I hgot is doing good. very colorful, but the other is has no fully opened, and they are right next to each other. I may move them round and a bit higher to see what happens. the milli is looking great. definately more fuzzy that the others I have in the tank. has not attached itself as of yet, but I moved it to a permanent home on sunday.

I'm starting to get some real good polyp extension on the mille and the parts that were toward the center of the colony are coloring up real nice. I know the colony was originally from fishdoc's tank and in his tank it was super bushy... I'm hoping mine continues in that direction.

To let you know my blastos are sitting on the bottom of my tank right now and are fully open. I expect my milly to be totally covering the super glue gel and fully attached within the next 2-3 weeks. I'm suprised how well its doing with my lighting.

From what I remember Gary said both didn't have high lighting requirements. Is this correct?

I think I shocked my blasto with too much light and I'm not sure if it will make it. I started with it in the bottom of the tank, and then I moved it under an overhang. The mille is doing great -- already growing like mad, and wicked green.

Mine are both doing great. The mille is still in the QT, but has decent PE (not like fishdocs, but not too bad).

As far as light, they will live under lower light, but the mille may want a little more to thrive (or keep colors). If you're already seeing it encrust around the glue, I'd say it is doing well. It may not hold the green color under PC's, but then again it might. You can be our guinea pig, Ryan;).

I think gluing the blastos apart would promote faster gorwth, but that is strictly gut feeling. They grow by adding small heads to the single stalks (I know alot of the frags had multiple heads on a single stalk, so hopefully this makes sense to everyone). The length of the stalk may look a bit awkward until it starts growing and filling in around it. As the stalk extends, the heads will form their own stalks, hiding the stalk over time. Each separate stalk is like a separate frag as far as the coral is concerned. Escape size is an interesting topic when looking at growth rates (in many cases a smaller item grows faster than larger items because the need for survival is greater for a smaller piece). The blastos are going to like lower lighting and flow. I keep all of mine at the bottom of a 120 with 175W 15K MH. Under the three suns on the 125 (250W DE AB 10K's), the blastos were not very happy.

I live to be a freakin guinea pig. I think my mind loses me sometimes, I must be nukin futs. :fun5:

I just took some pics and if i remember my camera tomorrow, I'll upload them somewhere.

Also... I need to hook up with someone at the next meeting that KNOWS lights. I think its getting close to upgrade time. :P

Unfortunately my mille didn't make it. I put it high up in the tank thinking it needed more light. I have 2x65w pc lights. They lasted about 2- 3 days befor they started shedding. The blasto is doing great at the bottom of the tank.

Both of my frags are doing great. The mill is starting to growing and is fully extended under my 150 watt Mh. I got the blasto in my 20 gallon under a 75 watt Mh viper lamp and it has already grown 3 new heads.

I want pics!!!!!!

I would like to see my "progeny" in their new homes:)

Here are some pics of the Momma after considerable fragging from the right side:
