Just thought you two would like to know they're surviving still.

awesome!

awesome!

many many years ago I did a thread that contained top down pix of corals obtained from local reef aquarists. I must say they were among my favorite corals. I still have many of them :)

I have a correction to make. I'm pretty sure the second coral (the hammer) was from AquaDonkey. I got two lovely frags from Mel, but this wasn't one of them.

That is awesome.

I've actually kept a decent track of frags Ive gotten from members here and outside sources. Not sure but I might have gotten a traveler frag of Gary M.'s gorgonian as it made its way around here Ive been told.

Thanks Eileen! Good to see that little hammer is flourishing :) Looks like he's grown too.
May be interesting trivia to know that I got that hammer from Walter (captainsomething....) and ended up having to get rid of him because he developed a bad attitude (stinging) and I didn't have room to give him more space.

I have had the best luck with locally bought/swapped frags. They are always healthy, I can see exactly what I'm getting, they seem to be more hardy (though I have no way to prove that)... not to mention that I get to meet some cool people, frags are usually cheaper, and reduce the impact on natural reefs/wild harvesting

Lizz, it's growing a second head. I put it next to a couple of aptasia when I first got it and it did it's assassination job beautifully. Now it's in a permanent location.

I have a very similar hammer, got one head not much wider than a pencil, it was so small I had trouble placing it. Fast forward 2 years at its at around 15 heads. Great coral, glad I took a chance on the frag I got from another local (not Walter, but easily/likely the from the same colony)
