$%^#%$%%#$ Freakin flatworms

Hey Gary, I may have found one in my tank also. I have been having problems for a while and I dipped one of the frags in freshwater and I think I saw one. It was so small I am not for sure though.

Mine have varied in size from really small (1/16") to pretty big (~1/4" elliptical). I hope you didn't get yours from me. I'd rather have red bugs... No signs of them since the treatements before the frag swap. Doesn't look like you can really get rid of these things.

I had them a few months ago. Lost quite a few colonies and the entire contents of the prop tank. I cannot say what exactly did the trick but they are gone !

A few things I did do was to be sure to scrape out all the eggs as I found them. If a colony was "infested", I removed it and dipped then shook in a lugol solution. I blasted the colonies in the tank every day or so and added a melanarus wrasse and a christmas wrasse (no sure of scientific name but it looks very much like the melanarus).

Like I said, I lost alot but I saved more than I lost. I did save a few of the infested ones as well.

I had 124 drops of FWE left, so I dosed about 45 minutes ago (not quite enough for my system, but close for a 1X). I'm looking into wrasses.

If I do have them I don't have very many. Many of my acros have already died and I removed them pretty quickly so maybe I took most of them out. I thought it was phosphate or something but looking at the pictures of the damage caused by them I am pretty sure that is the problem. I think I have seen two but one was so small I couldn't tell it was and one was definately a flatworm but was on a dead part of the coral moving very quickly. Most of the corals have been doing better but some are still looking pretty rough.

I blamed mine on lighting change from 175 SE to 250 DE's, then on alk problems. Guess I know now... I hope I did some damage to the population today. I want my cerealis and efflo to color back up (not to mention the nana's). I'm gonna treat again when I can get some more FWE to keep the population down until I can and find a suitable pair of wrasses.
