Free Chaeto!

Yeah the title says it. I know its not really that big a deal, but I figure before I chuck it, Id offer it to you guys and gals... I have a five gallon bucket FULL of chaeto. Ive been really busy lately so I dont really want to go through the hassle of shipping it. Plus, it is awfully cold out. If anyone is around the area and would like some, let me know. Ill hold on to it for a few days.

I am building a refugium. This is great timing.
Do people put a sand bottom in these, or does it go bare bottom?

mine is barebottom. i like it that way so when i do my water changes i pull all the chaeto out and suck the built up detritus right off the bottom. i also have a few decent sized live rocks in there and an urchin, a few snails, and some hermitcrabs

I have had one other person interested in it. I have just pmed them to arrange a time to meet. If you want some too, just let me know. Ill be home til about 4:30 but I would prefer to keep meetings between 12 and 2 since I have a lot to do before I leave for the weekend.

not to get off topic, but what light do you use for your cheto and how many hours do you have it on? thanks

Critter, I have 2 coralife 2x9 compact flourescent fixtures over my fuge. The bulbs are 2 10k and 2 actinic. I have been told that a 6or 7k would be a better spectrum and that I should have a reverse light schedule from my main tank, but my lights are on 24/7. The stuff grows like mad for me. Ive been tempted to set up another timer to give a dark period when the display lights are on but havent gotten around to it. I just flip the whole messover every few days.
