Free Coral swap program?? food for thought

Has anyone else read this article in the reef central magazine? It seems like a great program, has anything ever been set up like this within our club or thought about? (to quote Mr. Harris)

Well since you brought it back up!!

Great minds They say!!!

I like what I see, and I have been sick for over a week now so I am not sure I will be able to frag my zoo's so I will start with lots of zoo's

Just an idea to ponder: We could have a page on the WTMRAC website that keeps track of who has given and taken a particular type of coral for this program. It could state the rules of the program like, you must frag and give back a similar size frag. If that particular frag isn't popular, you could say they donate a different but equal or higher value frag or frags back to the Coral Consignment Club. :) lol But seriously, it would be a way to track and ensure there will always be a donor for a new recipient. You could state that you can only take a maximum of 2 frags until you give back to the program. It would be up to you all and the webmasters.

You could also have a page for the club library idea that lists available books and who has them checked out. There could be a link from the available book to the amazon page that lists all the details. Maybe even a section on the page where you can request to check out a particular book next. The website guys are going to shoot me now. I better duck.

great idea alk, you can be in charge of that part

;)

I know. I asked for it. If you mean coming up with php code or something like that, then I'd be no help. I can, however, keep track of things and forward the information to post. Whatever is needed to get the program up and going. I'll even donate a few frags to the cause.

AHHH, but did you actually read the original article that I suggested!

Read and think this one over : http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2008-09/feature/index.php

Then check out the COMAS Website at http://www.mycomas.com/

It has some really good information as well as goes through the growing pains etc.. that there program went through. I am one that truly does belive we "should always look at the mistakes that others have made where we can learn from them in order to not make that same mistake ourselves"

On there site they have what appears to be a really good format for all this (as well as they have built an impressive library).

I am glad this is being knocked aroud and maybe this is something we can truly put into play in the next couple of meetings. Glad to see people voluntering to work runwith this also (Ha)!!!!

I am glad we are
