click click back to ya Dan.....lol we will work out the mantis thing, liek i said, i can keep him for you until you get the sand and all, i have a lil extra live sand, enough to keep him in a small one or two gallon until you get all of the things worked out, it would look really good in the middle of that table as you coem in your house, cereal....

this sis seths friend with the 75 gallon reef that he gave it to. It is beatin in the new 8 gallon bowfront! I was thinking of going minireef but are mantis's reef safe?

They wont mess with corals but may try to knock off your clean up crew. Ive had luck with Larger snails that the mantis doesnt mess with to much. Remeber to do water changes often, Mantis tend to be MESSY eaters and a lot of them will pretty much stockpile food like a squirrel..... at least mine do. Every once in a while they will "take out the trash" and I will have little piles of shells and half eaten rotten silversides in the tank. Godo luck with your new critter!

You can keep it in nano environment, but small snails and most hermits will be gone in the first month. Some people keep fish with them, but be very cautious as to what you add, because mantis can and many times will go after a fish. BIG snails are about the only thing I keep with him besides some corals...
