Not a big deal at all...

I was not going to do anything sane with it anyway. I have been wanting to build a Jacobs Ladder (arcing V shaped rods like in Frankenstein) with a MH ballast. I just have not been willing to sacrifice one of my own for that kind of project.

Sorry all... collecting just about all SW stuff I can get my hands on for aquaculturing research purposes. If I cannot rewire this into the matrix, it will definitely be up for grabs soon.

Agreed.. you want a neon sign transformer. Alternatively a transformer out of a microwave will work.. but be careful!!! microwave transformers spell death if shocked by one since they're non-current limited. Microwave transformers don't really put out enough voltage to start the arc, so you sort of have to short the ladder to get it to go. Also not the safest method! Haha. What you really should build is a Tesla coil (built quite a few myself). blah blah blah OT, sorry. Good luck to you.

Shrimp is on the hitlist first... In parallel I have another area in a different building that I am looking to build out as a prop center for corals for when the aquaculturing process is nailed. Hey, something has to help pay the bills for all this crazy mad scientist stuff.

So, I wrote this small automatic subroutine that checks the RC database via scripted web query to the search DB for the words 'free' and automatically posts a response to the corresponding thread using my cached cookie. Very suspicious indeed... ;)

P.S. J/K on the RC script :) - simply way too much time on the forum when I should be working.

Mike - I have an Oceanlight HQI 250W DE ballast that blew a fan you can have. You just need to replace the fan. The nice thing about these ballasts is that the output plug is a AC female plug. Not proprietary. LMK
