I've seen on other subforums how some folks/clubs do a little pay it forward gig. I'm not sure what you all think but I have some things (nothing crazy) that can go to those who would like to participate.

Dr. Klier's recent thread as well as others on here acted as the catalyst for me.

Have a few multi-head "frags" of green-stalked purple-tipped branching hammer.

Sea-foam protopalys

Kenya tree

Toadstools

This is p/u only and I'm in Bloomfield. 14469

-no strings attached...one item per person and hopefully those that get these might later do the same.
 
Had an article about this in one of the magazines I read about 6-7 months ago. Great idea. That way if you lose something there should be those you gave frags to that can payback the favor.

Great idea as long as they are truly paying it forward, and not turning around and selling the corals you were nice enough to donate. I have experienced that before. Person played the newbie card, a week later, saw the same frag up for sale.
 
That is why I am gun shy on the principle. If I know it is someone new to the hobby, I will hook them up with some easy starter material, the nicer stuff, I have a few people that I will work with. I know they understand the caring of the coral and are not just looking to throw that acro in their tank to see if it will work because I can keep a mushroom, and it is free so why not try right?
 
I see your point...hopefully folks use common sense, (hopefully), and aren't tossing out their prized pieces.
 
Ok justin I am new I will take one of everything but the Kenya already have a few haha just Kidding I tried that a while ago too I ended up with a bunch of people that had nicer tanks than mine asking for stuff
 
I don't care who gets them, (well there are a cpl peeps that I won't let set foot in my place), but you don't have to be new...and I almost prefer it to be someone that has been on the boards a bit, meaning trustworthy lol.
 
Great thing you are doing that is how I really got a good start on my tank.

I like the idea, maybe one day I will pay it forward to a few people. I did take in a guy's corals while he moves at no charge. It just seemed like the good/right thing to do.
