Fresh water test.

Happy to report as of today, the entire system is leak proof. There was one spitting a little water at one of the connections. But a slight turn of the wrist. All is well. RO/DI is next on my list, I am trying to get a faucet connector. Not too sure of what skimmer to get, I need to measure the max foot print avaliable to shorten my list. I also need help with what kind of flow I have a spare maxi jet 1200, and two power heads not sure their rating. Any suggestions on skimmer and flow? I plan on keeping softies.

I planned to leep with softies but when you start to get up to speed you may very well decide you want a mix. I might suggest keeping your eyes peeled for some online used equipment deals. That will give you time to figure out your longterm plans and get the stuff you want without a huge outlay of cash. I have a ASM G2 on my 150 total gallon system and it works great. JXMetal made me a deal on it and with a couple of tries at mesh mods, it is doing great

I have three hydor Koralya 2 power heads in the tank in addition to a MAG 9 in the sump. They move stuff around pretty well but I am not sure how long they will last. They look cool, are quiet and easy to clean. I have only had them 8 months so only time will tell.

Just my 2 cents

Here's IMO.

1) Get an Octopus skimmer. Much cheaper to buy, Much better than an ASM (I have both) built better and has a far higher quailty pump. ASM needs a few MOD's just to work fairly good. Octopus only needs one MOD and it cost $0.29 @ the hardware store, an "o"ring to replace a washer that's a little bit to wide.

2)For a pump I'd go either a MAG or Eheim. Both pumps are very good(I have them both). IMO the Eheim gives off less heat than the MAG.
