freshwater planted aquarium, in search of plants

I picked up an Aqueon Evolve 8 for my sons bday with the intention of setting it up as LPS dominant reef. Well, he wanted a fw planted tank, so I'm curious if there are any other local planted tank enthusiasts in the area. I haven't found much for variety around horseheads/elmira. Anyone know of anywhere within driving distance for a good selectikn of plants? Any info would help, thanks!

FW Plants

Jim,
Hi one of the main places I buy FW plants from is Mikeswetpets. He is on Aquabid, he is located in hamburg ,NY I believe. Prices are good and shipping is cheap..

Ive tried maintining some in my planted tank. Had good luck with some and not others. Hit or miss. Co2 makes a big difference.

Anyway +1 On Mikeswetpets on aquabid. ive also used http://www.plantedaquariumscentral.com/ if you deside to order anything online.
Try out some cyrpts, Anacharis, amazon swords, Java moss, marimo moss ball, Java fern(this one grew the best for me).

Thanks guys, I did end up picking up a few plants at petsmart. I got a low growing crypt hopefully for ground cover, java fern, peacock fern, micro sword, and a couple other crypts that I can't remember the names of. I put 4 neon tetras in also, and one of my friends has some shrimp that are about to have babies, so ill be adding them also later on. I'm planning on keeping it simple for now and seeing how things do, but im sure as I get more involved in that part of the hobby ill be upgrading just like we all do with reef tanks.

My girlfriend and I are hoping to move into a house within the next year or so, and I already have the approval for a monster sized shallow cube reef, so I already am thinking of using my 54g corner bow for a fw planted bedroom tank. I really think if they are done nicely, a planted tank can look even more elegant than a full blown reef. Hopefully I can get there at some point
