friedman psuedochromis

I was thinking of getting one, but are they bullies like other dottybacks? I have two false percs, two yellow clown gobies, blue tang, bannerfish and female bellus angel. Does anyone have any personal experience with this fish? Thanks.

You really shouldn't have a problem as they aren't as aggressive as other Dottyback and with the fish you have and size tank shouldn't be a problem at all.

i would be slightly concerned about the yellow clown gobies.... for their size, i could somehow see them little yellow things sit on some place that 'belongs' to the to the pseudo..... just a thought

I'm by no means an expert but I have my pseudochromis in with a *tiny* yellow clown goby and I haven't seen the pseudo show even the slightest aggression towards the goby. And the goby has several "favorite" perches in various parts of the tank.

I have seen the pseudo chase my ocellaris clown around though. I used to have a pair of ocellaris clowns and one vanished (I never found a body). I highly suspect the pseudochromis. For the record, the clowns were both a little over an inch long and the pseudo is almost 3 inches.

Other tank inhabitants include an Eibli Angel, several shrimp, and a number of sessile inverts. The pseudo doesn't pay any attention to any of them.

I have a few in one of my reef tanks.
Beautiful fish , no problem what so ever, the only fish they may attack is among themselves, but nothing critical.
I have them with other small fish like Aurora gobies and Rainford gobies and I never say them even close to the gobies.

Thanks for the input. I do have two ocellaris clowns, but they're hosting in a pink condy (go figure). I doubt if the psuedo would go in there to get them!

In that size tank you should have no trouble. I have two ODs in a 75 g . I added the second smaller one 18 months after the first. There has been tension, but several months now and they still cohabitating.

The older famale did take exception to adding a beautiful candy hog which it battered to the point I could not rescue it. But that was in a 26g tank. Stay away from fish with similar baody shape and you'll have no trouble at all and will love this fish

I have a Pseudochromis fridmani in a 120-gal tank and it doesn't bother any of the other fish. I got it when it was probably about 7 or 8 months old because it was an O.R.A. captive-bred fish. They aren't nearly as aggressive as other dottybacks but you could have problems if later on you try to introduce a fish with a similar appearance or a much smaller fish.

When I introduced my second, much smaller OD, I hung a clear container, like an in tank refugium and kept him in there for several weeks. Then I transfered them both into a new tank. Not that you'll have a new tank waiting, but if you ever add another fish that has a similar body type after the OD is established, this method worked really well.

I would not call them a pair yet, as she often goes off and kicks his but a little but they do swim together alot and occasionally I see signs of courting body language. I think the male is just a little immature for pairing just yet.
