Needless to say I'm devastated. I lost two of my frogfish in a 24 hour period. Two days ago I noticed discolouration and slightly labored breathing that eventually lead to paralysis and death on my frogfish that I have had the longest. Less than 24 hrs later I lost a second frogfish to identical symptoms.
They were contained in completely different systems that receive their own water changes regularly (from different batches). I'm at a complete loss as to what happened and the only thing I can think of is some sort of pathogen that was spread between the two systems via the use of a shared feeding stick.
This has been an awful experience, any thoughts would be appreciated. For what its worth these were species only tanks, the oldest having been set up for close to 2 years. The newest having been set up about a half a year (using fully cured live rock, sand, etc. from a different system).
Is anyone aware of anything that would cause this? I would say it was perhaps 48-72 hrs maximum after the onset of the original symptoms (discolouration happened first) that both frogfish died.
