hello, i have been planning on getting a tank around 30 gallons. i was just wondering if i would be able to have a frogfish in there or if it is too small? It would be stocked with lps and softies and no other fish. Also, do you think i should go with a frogfish if its okay or some colorful fish? also, what species of frogfish would fit and please post pics! Thanks

edit- i have been looking at the wartskin/clown angler. does anybody know where i could buy this?

I don't have any advice but those are some crazy looking fish! I would get one if I wasn't afraid of it eating my little fish.

Best to make it a species tank as it will eat your fishes. They are known to eat fishes twice their size....

As for your questions, yes, 30g species tank will be fine and they are coral safe (meaning they won't eat your corals) Set up plenty of LR in the tank as they like to hide there and wait and fish for their food.

Let me know if you need more info but one word of advice, it's not an easy fish to keep (not to mention expensive too) so would suggest some serious reading before you venture into this.

yes, i have been doing research and it would be the only fish in the tank. i know all about its feeding habits and all that stuff. the tank would probably be a 28 gallon jbj nano. any more advice?

Try not to over feed it. I have one and I feed it once a week and I know some of my friends feed it every 2 week once. He likes live bait (I used damsels). However, my friend has manage to train his to take frozen fish by first spraying the area with brine shrimp to lure him out and then slowly place the dead fish near him.

Provided plenty of LR and not too much flow. They are known to change color to blend with the rocks :)

Enjoy....
