Frogs

Yikes, I hate to hear that.

I stopped breeding them many years ago, but they usually have some Tricolors, Bicolors, Auratus, and Azureus at the Critter. I do see some Tincs there on occasion as well. How long did you have your cobalt? Any ideas on what happened?

I was about to get into the Dart keeping this past year. Had a well established terrarium with a variety of plants. It had to have been running for the past 5-6 years. Previously I had kept Mantella's in there. I found the Dart's at AC or any other local pet shop a little to high for my taste. And now look at me back reefing. I forgot how much dedication/cost all this requires!

I had two male Cobalt tincs in my avatar for about two years now. They have been great, and then within the last two months one started to get very skinny while the other one very fat. Today I woke up and found him at the botton of the little pond in thier tank. :-(

I do the reef tank and my wife has a PDF tank with 5 leucs... that I maintain.

Sorry to hear about your frog. We tried to raise some from eggs (had 2 maiting pairs) but for some reason we couldn't get any of the froglets to survive.

Are you looking to replace the tinc with another one or leave it as a 1 frog tank?

That is a good plan. I posted yesterday, but I must not have submitted it.

I would guess that the Tinc that passed was being bullied by the larger of the two. I have seen this a couple of times with a same sex pair... particularly two males. When they start to mature, the dominant one will push the other around, take most of the food, and stress the other out to a point where they may not eat.

I would get an adult female to go with your already dominat male for best chances, and good luck.

Also, you are most likely going to need to find a breeder that has adults for sale, or go online for an adult female. I have not seen them in stores around here, but I bet the critter could order you one.
