frogspan dying?

My frogspawn is starting to receed in some places and I don't understand why. Thy parameters are fine I did have a slightly elevated ammonia level I think because of a keyna frag that floated away and I couldn't find it any where that probably died and caused the slight spike. I did 2 good size h20 changes and everything is back to normal but the frogspan still doesn't look great. I use to spot feed them but the did all right without me doing that so I stoped but I started again. Any sugesstions I can get more into the specifics with some questions but don't want to make this too long. Thanks for the input. Mike

I had some issues with frogspawn's/hammers receeding
along with any other coral in the tank crashing.

I tore the tank apart and found a gorrila crab.
I reassembled it, added some more flow, and everything took off.

long story short, it could be a lot of different things.
I would start changing little stuff untill you find out what the problem is.

I would start with moving it to a different part of the tank.
I found mine do the best in slightly shaded area's with mild flow

Iuse a refractometer and the salin is 1.025. Everything else in my tank is doing fine it has be up and running for 4 years with this frogspan it has been in the tank for 3 year with no problems.

dude if you just had a coral float away and die and release all kinds of foul chemicals you need a huge water change, run polyfilters
this would absolutely explain it
also make sure current going around the frogspawn, not into it

I had the same problem after I started running Rowaphos. Did happen to start running anything new like that?

I just did my 3rd water change (40 gallon) in 3 weeks. Everything else in the tank except for the zoos look ok. Test are normal except for a tiny elevation in amonia but haven't tested yet after the 3rd water change which I just did. THe pulsing xynthia(sp) which haven't spread in the last 2 months they have accutally withdrawn. THe ones in the fuge are doing ok. I have great growth in the torch coral, clove polops, other polops, mushrooms, and anenome is now 5 instead of 1 2 years ago, Toodstool leather looks great too. Any sugesstions? Thanks

One other note that I read back it the privious posts that I did add a 250k metal halide bulb about 5 months ago to the middle of the tank where the frogspan is that had a 90 watt compact that I had replace but it seemed to have made the ajustment. I also replace the outlining bulbs shortly after that with xm 15k bulbs could this be a problem? I don't see how it can if most of the tank is doing fine?
