Calvin for President
My frogspawn hasnt been doing well since I had a ton of algae die off. See info here on that http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2212351

My water parameters as of today and the same for the past week.

Alk 10 dkh
Cal 440ppm
Mag 1400ppm
Ph 8.0
Ammonia 0
Nitrate ~2 (crappy api test kit, but no algae growth)
Nitrite 0
Phophates .08

Here is two pictures of today.

I moved it down to a low spot last night. I was concerned about flow tearing its skin on the sharp edges, since it is pulled back so far. Up until then it has been beside this hammer ~4" away. Photo is from today. I also have several other corals that are great looking and have been since the algae die off battle.

I have checked for predators during the day and night. I dont see anything.

I have a bottle of seachem coral dip, I have been using when placing new pieces in the tank.

Should I dip this frogspawn?

Should I leave it alone in low flow?

I wouldn't move it anymore, you could stress it out even more. A coral will let you know when it's happy.

Agreed with others, give it some time. IMO your water parameters are a touch hot but nothing to worry about. I've had one of these for about 5 years now. It's a tank. Has about 25 mouths, when fully open it's the size of a large grapefruit. I love it.

thanks for the replies, so i am going with no dip and leaving it alone in low flow in a low spot on tank. Strange that the hammer is doing great not far from the original spot. this hobby is mindbattering sometimes.

Jg, i dosed to bring it up to that and leaving the parameters alone. It has sat there for awhile, with just water changes. My tank stock is low right now so i wont have to daily dose for awhile.

ill keep this updated.

Yep, that pretty much what I do too. Just make sure you bring your levels up slowly. I burned several corals with an Alk swing and they took a while to recover.

If your near the DC area and something happens I could frag you a piece of mine!

on bringing up slowly, i figured the water volume on my tank and took the brs calculator for the 2 part and figured what the max dose I could possibly do for each cal, mag and alk value. the no more than 50ppm of cal and 1.4dkh per day, i have that value in sharpie on my bottles, so i know right there if im getting ready to screw up. :hmm4:

thanks for the offer. i go up to aquia va for work every now and then. thats about it for me normally.

For me it was all about maintaining your parameters. Consistant readings, not up and downs. They can live with parameters being a little off as long as they are constant.

here is a update, it is doing better, even with the stinking urchin hauling it off yesterday.
