Frogspawn feeding

Ive had a 5 head frogspawn frag that I purchased back in october of last year and every time i have tried feeding the polyps, there has been no feeding response and food just floats away. Its completely healthy and has very nice polyp extension, but has no growth whatsoever since it was introduced. It is in a tank with Blastos, trumpet corals, scroll corals, chalices, and sun corals that all are eating and growing very nicely. Any ideas why this coral is rejecting food?

Your frogspawn will be fine! I think a lot of frogspawns don't feed much or react to it. You FS is going to get plenty of enough from your Ca, Mg, and alk. What reef crystal mix are you using? Just curious because I am going to start trying out Red sea coral pro.

Your Alk and Ca numbers do not seem to be inline. Is the 560 ppm for Ca? Also, are you measuring Alk in dKH?

Im using red sea coral pro and love it! i switched over about 6 weeks ago and i have much better polyp extension and Im not dosing anything anymore besides kalk when needed.

Clownfish- yes the Ca is 560 ppm and 12dKh according to my API test kits. API kits arent too terribly reliable but they are cheaper... hence the skewtosis

I have some very healthy frogspawn, hammers, and torches and none of them seem to be interested in eating. If the flow is off and I put the food on them it will stick, but they rarely make an attempt to bring it to their mouths. Just keep good params and all will be good.

Rscp mixes to 12.2 dkh for alk... They keep it pretty high, that is, however, mixed to a salinity of 1.026. It's not HORRIBLE but is up there, don't let it go much higher

The only thing my Euphyllia will ever ate was live blackworms. But they need no solid food.

Your lighting may be a tad on the low side, depending on the age and brand of the fixture and the bulbs.

im using a 2 year old GLO T5 HO system with dual 54 watt bulbs. the bulbs were replaced 2 weeks ago ( replace every 6 months) and im running one 10000K and one actinic 420 bulb. my tank is a 55g long so its less than 18" deep. the frogspawn is about 8" away from the bulbs and is happy and open. my GSPs are towards the bottom of the tank and spread like wildfire and are a higher light coral....


Jblank--- i retested my alk yesterday and it was at 11 dKH according to my API test kit.

That's a good alk to maintain. That's about the max you really want it! Good luck sounds like you've got em under control!
