Can anyone tell me why my froghammer (morph) decided to give me the bird? What do I do about his behavior?

What should one do with a wild tentacle like that? Cut it, leave it?

Seriously? It's a sweeper tentacle. Just leave it, or move what ever coral is close to the sweeper.

Mmmkay, I know that much. There's nothing on that side of the coral to sting. I've heard of people cutting them is why I ask.

I guess that's why I said "seriously". I couldn't understand your question based on your reefing experience. I can't think of a reason to cut it off and can't think of a reason why others have. Unless it is stinging something or perhaps going to get caught in a powerhead intake I'd still leave it be.

lol, no problem. There are some mushrooms close by but that's about the only thing in close proximity. Maybe that's why it's doing this. Perhaps self defense. I wouldn't mind if it scared off the shroom though.

Hey drummer, my wall hammer extends a sweeper like that occasionally when I feed the tank. So does my branching. They normally only do that in my tank in the presence of food. They don't leave them out for very long IME. If it stays like that, it would be something new to me.

i have a hammer that does that alot...i too have some shrooms close...i like getting the finger shot at me

Thanks for the info vess. Might be what was happening that day. Perhaps a little more stuff floating in the water column. I'll keep an eye on it.
