messing with my lighting to get some growth from my hammer and frog. i currently run a 120w coralife 30" on a 29 tal. I always read about low placement and low flow, can i place within 6" from the top to promote more growth?

My hammer is in mid/high light and low flow and my frogspawn is in mid light with high flow. Both are doing great. If your looking to get growth I would suggest direct feeding.

Both my frogspawn and hammer are close to the floor of the tank, with LED lighting, and low flow. Both are growing and are happy

Frogspawn will do great at any level

i have it at top of one tank under 2 x 400 watt halides
and has awesome growth, color

but also have it at middle of another under 250 halides

and in another under leds halfway down

will post pictures later tonight

appreciate it. thanks

under general conditions, what should one expect growth wise?

Giving it more light is going to have a very minimal effect on this. If anything you can give it too much light and it could bleach out

The things important for growth are going to be alk, calcium and magnesium. Keep those at good levels and you will have good growth.

I have two different species of frog spawn sitting about 10 inches from the bottom of my 60 cube unde LEDlights... The one type is growing very very slow but has split once and is splitting again... The other is a vertical cluster and the lower heads are fully extended. As you move up they are less extended. I am thinking they are getting woo much light. They are sitting at about 200 par. Once my lights reach my target intensity (that will give me 500 at the top of my rock work) I will probably have 250 par at the top of the frog spawn... I wonder if they will adjust to it. I increased the flow and they look a bit better but still mostly closed....
