I have a big frogspawn that over the last few months, hasnt been filled out like it normally was in the past. The heads are 70% retracted and are not expanded out. After a closer look, I noticed hundreds of the tiniest white specs all over the flesh. The white specs couldnt be much smaller and be visible to the naked eye. After watching these tiny specs, I noticed they were alive and crawiling all over the heads.
My frogspawn had bugs. No idea what kind.
I had tried a lugols dip, but that did nothing at all. I wasnt sure what to do since I couldnt find any information on pests that live on these types of corals.
So, I had some inteceptor left over from my treatment of red bugs on a coupe incoming SPS frags. I thought what the heck, and made up a couple gallons of water and put in some inteceptor. I added a few times more inteceptor to the water than what was recomended for treating SPS. I only treated the coral for a about an hour then took it out and put it back in the tank. The next day, the frogspawn was all fluffy again and almost back to its original self. The inteceptor treatment worked great.
I still notice some bugs left on the flesh, maybe about .05% of the coral is covered, compared to 30% before treament. So, I figure I would treat the coral again and for a little longer since the coral responded so favorably to the treatment.
So, can anyone tell me more about what these bugs/pests could be? Im assuming a sort of crustacean, as thats what inteceptor kills.
