i have noticed my frogspawns and my hammer coral seeming a little whithered, they seemed to be a bit stressed and i have been keeping a close eye on them for the last 6 weeks.

BUT i was looking at pics of them from a few months ago and now i am really worried as they were much bigger/fuller in the pictures i took in december!!!

my zoanthids are spreading like mad, my green cap is as green as ever and still quickly encrusting, the tree coral that was being nipped seems happy again, the digi frags i got at the meeting have healed over, and all the other corals seem fine....
except my hammer, frogspawn and torch corals (i have 3 colors of FS, 1 hammer, and i have lost another color of hammer and a torch in last 3 months)

these were doing VERY well back in Dec. and had doubled their heads since i had first gotten them and quickly became my favorite coral and i dedicated a corner of the tank to them so they would not sting any other corals.....

soooo.........

what's wrong?

and what do i do?

i don't wanna lose them

to be honest i do not have a test kit nor have i used one in over a year. i have a hydrometer and that's about it! i hated testing my water and i seem to have been very lucky so far w/out one (i figure if things look fine then just keep doing things the same way and don't change anything) i know some people would be flabberghasted to find out i never test my water as some people do it daily, but i have a tendancey to do things entirely the wrong way and yet get positive results (maybe its part of having an artisitic mind)

yes i run carbon

the one frogspawn was actually starting to release some brown slime so i just did a %50 water change and i am going to run fresh carbon and a ammonia removing pad (brown colored cut-to-fit pad)

i upped my salinity a bit as it was at the bottom of "the red safety zone" on the instant ocean hydrometer and i have heard corals like it twords the high end.

i also increased the water flow in the area a bit and moved one FrogSpawn lower from the light.
i changed my lights to T5 lights a while back (Feb.) is the light too strong maybe? i have them in the middle, except the one it was higher up but now i lowered it

the only other things i can think of is:

i have a seabay anemone that came with the tank back in Jan. and its been withering away as it was white when i got it and despite spot feeding it the things obviously dying. i have tried to remove it but its stuck to the rock. maybe its releasing toxins?

i also just found and saved my eye of lucifer zoas as i found them after being missing a week in my shroom pile, 6 heads are recovering and open now but 3 are closed and appear dark.

In my experience frogspawn and other Euphyllia's don't seem to like higher temps not sure if you are having a problem with that but just thought I would throw my 2 cents in :) to see if it might help..
Good Luck
