Frogspawn octospawn questions

Hello, I just bought a frogspawn coral. I was told it was an octospawn version but I'm not sure what that means. Also the base of it is quite large and I was wondering of it was all living coral or just a rock or coral skeleton. It's 2-3 inches when the polyps arnt out like in this picture but when they are out its closer to 5-6 inches

Need to see it with the polyps out to answer your question. Octospawn is a different coral than the frogspawn. That appears to be the coral's skeleton, but grown onto a rock of some sort.

Here's a picture of it today. I know the polyps arnt fully extended but this may help. I just got it yesterday. How long until the polyps fully extend do you think?

It all depends on the water quality and the light and flow. It could happen today or might take a few weeks. So until it opens and extends more it's really hard to tell the difference between them IMO.

Very nice colors and it looks healthy.

FYI, if you turn the top of your phone to the left and then take pictures they will be the correct orientation for PC viewing and won't affect viewing on phones.

Ok thanks for the advice. I just want to make sure I'm not making any mistakes. This is my first lps coral and after a little ich problem I had where I lost afew fish I want to be extra cautious and make sure I'm not going to make another mistake

I love Frogspawns and Octospawns alike. I love their movement and their variations of colors.

I was lucky enough to get a yellow one not too long ago on a frag swap event. I love it.
This is my yellow octo, next to my pink hammer:
