Frogspawn Question

I was given a bunch of Frogspawn by DavidEnos and Duec22- Very Nice peices THank You Both.

My Question is, Most the Frogspawn is the Green tipped variety (with some pink/purple tips mixed in) and is doing very well - has opened up completely. The Green with purple tipped Frag has not yet fully opened up. It hasnt lost any tissue that I can see, but something isnt right.

I heard that this variety requires more intense lighting... is that correct?

Any ideas would be appreciated it really is a nice piece I'd hate to lose it, Thanks.

Mine is under regular PC and does OK there, maybe it is just taking a bit longer to settle in. Assuming you acclimated slowly, maybe there is something (pH, temp, etc.) that is just not what it has been used to or maybe it got bumped around a bit more than the other one. As long as there is no tissue damage, I'd let it settle in overnight and see how it looks in the morning. I love the fogspawns, lots of movement and color.

I have kept both under PC lights as well. Perhaps the one not openining is in a higher flow area? They seem to like low to medium flow.

ok thanks.

this frag was acclimated the same way as every other thing in the tank was. This frag is in a different area of the tank then the rest so I'll try moving him around a bit.

Sweet, I only moved it less than 30 minutes ago and its already looking alot better. Seems that the flow was probably a little strong in the place I had him before.

thanks again.

If it's the piece I gave you, let me tell you how it was in my tank. I had it up against the glass on the side of my tank, and it was kind of shadowed and sheltered by some rock. In addition my tank has been aclimating to my new lights and is takeing a long time. So I would suggest low light and low flow for it. But that piece is a champ...I started it with I think 4 heads under just a 55w PC and it grew and grew...I've probably fragged about 10-15 heads off of it in the past two years. It's survied every problem I've thrown at it from high salinity (1.032 :O ), temp spikes up to 86, and extreamly low alk of about 4 DkH.
Hope that helps, and I hope it comes back strong for you. LMK if there is any other info I can give you.

thanks for the info david - It is in fact the piece you gave me - The place it was in was getting pretty significant flow and I run Halides as well... Where it is now it has a bit less flow and is further away from the halides, its really starting to get fluffy now.

its really a beautiful piece, I'm glad it was so simple to fix the problem.
