Frogspawn VS. Toadstool. Who wins??

Mako Shark II

Fish are Friends not Food
Okay.... So maybe I didn't think it through and the placement could have been better, but the frogspawn was a lovely specimen (w/ five heads!) and the MH lighting was perfect.... right next to my young and growing 2-1/2" Toadstool.

Well, Needless to say, after the frogspawn decided it loved the new neighborhood, he extended everything he had and the toadstool, well.... he kinda shrunk into himself, not really loving the new guy.

Obviously, they're bad neighbors, right?? I'll move the frogspawn, but what can I (or should I even try?) to treat the toadstool with? He's slimin' his outer skin, but right before this, he was REALLY healthy.

Thoughts? Comments? Dirty jokes?

If you have moved the Frogspawn, I would leave the toadstool alone. You might try to gently blow the skin it is shedding off with a turkey baster. My frogspawn decided it wanted to try and kill some button polyps that were next to it. They were looking pretty bad and wouldn't open. I moved them two days ago and they are already looking better. Hope the toady recovers... sounds like he will.

My toad stool will draw in sometimes for a few days and when he starts to reopen will be a bit slimy. When he reopens is bigger and fuller. I think this is normal for them at least it is for mine. .

IME allelopathy (coral chemical warfare) definitely goes on between Euphyllia sp.(frogspawn) and Sarcophyton sp. (leathers) when in close proximity to each other. When I had both in the same tank I moved them to opposite ends of a 4' 75 gallon and didn't see problems again.

Thanks All. I'll remove them to "neutral corners" and advise. I love the Frog, but I don't want to lose my Toad either.

He was frag from our first Frag Show last September at the Agricenter in Memphis.

I have both in a 55 gallon and also had to move them to opposite corners of the tank. I also have my two returns blowing in opposite directions to reduce how much they can detect each other.

It has worked fine, but when they were close the leather was sliming and the euphyllia was spitting brown strings. They REALLY don't seem to like each other.
