From 140 gal to 240 gal. So much room!

Black Friday was just that as around 10:30 pm on last Friday my 140 gal that I have had up and running for 10+ years cracked. It could have been much worse as I was in the next room and able to start cleanup right away. By the time the tank was half empty the leak from the crack pretty much stopped. I was very lucky here as I only ended up with about 3-5 gallons one the floor. The tank cracking was due to a water damaged warping stand that should have been replaced long ago.

After all the fish and live rock where safely in buckets, barrels, and a completely running with no fish 29 gal bio cube I started my hunt for the new tank. After finding many 210's available I really want an 8ft tank and had a tight budget. Luckily I found a nice 240 gal, 8x2x2, in Buckeye. After 2 trips I got it all home and as little as 3 days the tank is up and running and my live rock is looking happy. Used my 60 gal sump and was able to hook right into the plumbing. Thought I would share the new beauty.

I unfortunately lost my blond naso that was 13+" as well as my orange ling bristle tooth tang. They will be missed. At least my pair of bird wrasses as well as my pair of wild maroon clowns are doing well in my 29 gal for a few more days just to make sure I don't get any major bio spikes.

That's a beauty, Looks good. At least you were able to save most of your live stock and not have to replace everything.

Again sorry to hear about the live stock you did lose.

Look at the bright side of this whole event. You got a bigger tank and more room for new live stock

That is a nice looking tank; good Craigslist score...

That's going to be a lot of fun getting to get used to the extra 100 gallons of room.

I'm a newbie. I noticed that you put your powerhead back in still covered with growth. I'm assuming that was on purpose to keep the helpful biomas, but I want to confirm.

So that means when I clean my submerged stuff, that I should focus more on the internal turning stuff and leave the exterior gunk alone?

nice setup, I really like the length of that tank, lots of swim room for those larger fish.

I am thinking 3-5 large angels and a school of some kind of tang would be fun.

As for the powerhead. It is not hurting anything the way it is and in a couple years the back wall will look just like it. I lean more to a natural look to the tank vs sterile environment. Things that grow naturally in the tank are not usually harmful. Some algae types are even beneficial.

Hello. I have been lurking for a while now. Where those the bright green trumpets? You wouldn't by chance still have any do you?

Sorry to hear about the bad luck. Good thing you were home! New tank looks very nice, and you'll love the extra room.

I am loving the new tank!

It is all set up now and the fish have moved home. Got a small amount of ammonia in the first 3 days and was all gone by the 4th.

The fixture is a coralife aqualight advanced MH/CF combo. I run 4 150w Phoenix 14k's. I don't run the CF's as they don't last, are expensive, and I like the look of the phoenix 14k's.
