From the ashes.... 120 rebuild

I picked my tank up from glasscages a couple of weeks ago. Its been sitting in the garage until I could get other tank out, get this tank situated.... you know how it goes. :)

Water goes in on wednesday night. Norman came by this afternoon and helped me move the tank onto the stand.

Here are some pics of what I have so far.

I was able to use the suction cups here and get a full uncut piece of starboard down to the bottom of the tank. Those of you that have glasscages tanks and starboard know that the lip on the GC tanks is a complete PITA to get starboard on. I asked Tom if he could make that flush for me, so the bottom glass didnt have the lip. Hoorah!

And you can see the sweet penductors courtesy of wayne.

This isnt a real great shot of the overflow, but you can see how small and full of awesome the glassholes overflows are. SO MUCH ROOM!

LOOK AT ALL THE ROOM!

I'll post more when water goes in, rock, plumbing, electrical etc.

On the glassholes overflow. If you get a pieceof black acylic to sit on top of the overflow it will cut down on the noise and keep algae from growing in it. Tank looks great kind of like my cube.

I love the rimless look but I figured on something as big as a 120 a center brace or some eurobracing would be necessary unless the glass is extra thick. Your glass doesn't look extra thick.

Black silicon FTW.

Edit: I'll be interested to see how the white starboard ages as it grows coralline and other film algae. We went with black when we did it to try to keep all in-tank "equipment" the same color. I also know that the green algae that grows on glass doesn't really show very well at all on black. It all comes down to taste, but I'll have to stop in and see it once its been up a while to have an idea about what it looks like for future reference.

is_that_a_fish: yes, going for sps dominated again. I'll have your standard lps, frogspawn hammer or torch, but thats about it.

Thanks for the comments. Hopefully I'll have some more updates soon.

MAN.

I can NEVER go to home depot just ONCE.

I even made a list. Got everything on the list. And STILL forgot an effin piece of pvc.

CURSES!

Yep -- that's the law of the hardware store. One trip never does it, no matter how hard you try :D

Its a universal law. :D

Honestly, for my tank alone, I have probably made... oh... literally 35 trips to Lowes. :)

Looking good so far, Chuck!

Can't wait to see it with stuff in it... Also let me know when you want a piece of your green slimer back. I'll refer to it as the OCD Slimer now... kinda seems fitting if you take it out of the water. ;)

It has water!!

But Im being drug to a wedding in o-freakin-hio this weekend.

I'll have aquascape pics soon I hope.

Also, the nano wavebox is spectacular. 1/4 the size of the large wavebox, and in my size tank, creates a better wave. With that, the vortech and the penductors, I fully expect to see fish pinned to the glass :D

A couple new pics.

All filled up and 'scaped:

I moved all the equipment over to the side in anticipation of building a cabinet. Nothing like a pile of electricity by a box of water.

And a pic of the back plumbing and skimmer. This used to be a huge cris-cross tangle of wires.

I think on my next tank I am going to fill the bottom 1/4 inch with casting resin then sprinkle it with aragonite sand. That way it looks like a sand bottom but it will actually be bare.

Lookin good Chuck !! If you need any frags before long let me know what little I have I'll be more than happy to share. I am going more SPS too.
