Frustrated with tank.

As far as UV sterilizers go PetSmart just started to carry an in tank set up for around 70 or 80 bucks. Basically you just throw it in your sump and plug it in, very simple. I will read more about it tomorrow when I'm at work and get some more info on it.

I think you are talking about METRONIDAZOLE. It is one of the cures for chlamydia so talk to Vspeck maybe he can spare some of his bulk supply Seems to be Ify in effectiveness. The above fish list is fairly prone to ich anyway. I agree that most fish die from the cure rather than ich, Considering that any cure that works only kills the parasite faster than it kills the fish and overdose is a major factor. but I have found Treatments that are virtually harmless but lower in success rates. ie Metronidazole, if we are talking a fish only tank, your options are a little easier to stomach. Lowered salinity will help oxygen levels and put less stress on their osmoregulation. There is also a relatively new drug which is Chloriquine phosphate which cures malaria but really hard to get. The other method is the tank transfer method. Which seems to be more hassle but a really effective treatment. fish start out in one tank, than moved to another tank per day for 2 to 3 weeks. Each time cleaning the tank they left. "Tanks" can be storage containers or anything that holds water. The obvious down side is getting the fish from tank to tank every day with your list may be more stress than anything else. Also, requires a lot of water. There are ways of helping the fish, on a outbreak to outbreak basis. But, it's a long process to totally cure it.
