Frustrating...

One of the most frustrating parts about this hobby.

Waiting, waiting, waiting. Stalking the package on Fed Ex's website. Waiting, waiting, waiting. Finally your new toy is out for delivery! Fed Ex guy shows up, you sign for it, get your package, tear it open, and...

It's the wrong skimmer. :sad1:

Of course not.

Sent me this...

But I ordered this...

I know the feeling.. ordered a pair.of.Picassos....showed up dead.
I'm still trying to get it resolved. Hope your return goes smoother.

Sorry man, that stuff only happens when your excited. If it was a bucket of salt you would have got it in like 2 days.:furious:

Savage let me know when my picasssos get here.:D

Ain't that the truth.

i cant beleive they woould make that big of a mistake they dont even look alike

Well, to be fair, there are in the neighborhood of 3 dozen different reef octo skimmer models available, and the model #s can be very similar. The skimmer they sent me is the SRO XP-1000s HOB vs the skimmer I ordered, the SRO XP-1000sss. Not sure why the model #'s are so similar since they are not even close to being the same skimmers.

Anyway, they (SoCalTropical) have been great about getting this situation fixed. The correct skimmer should be here tomorrow.

After posting that last night, I was reading about people getting some good nog after a very short time, so I decided I want to get this sucker going. So...

Please excuse the cluttered sump, that's something I need to get down there and fix. Just need to get it dialed in.

Overall, early impressions. I'm really impressed with the skimmer. Excellent build quality, and size-wise everything is considerably bigger despite the fact that it has a smaller footprint than my old Euroreef.

Not sure I can say.

CoralVue recommends a 3-4 weeks break in for new skimmers. When I first read that, I thought...naw, that seems too long. Well, 11 days in, and it's pretty inconsistent. I had cleaned the cup/ neck last night. When I took a look before heading to bed it had built a good foam head, and was off and running. This morning...nothing. The foam head had died, and there was only a few drops (literally) of skimmate in the cup.

Overall, I'm still impressed with the build quality of the skimmer, and I think it'll be a good performer when all is said and done.
