Fry project

day 19

They are doing extremely well. Does anyone know when an anemone can be added it to the tank? They seem to be lurking around more.

This is offtopic, but does anyone here want to buy some otohime A? I guess you have to buy 2 kg at a time. I am sure I am not going to use 2kg. I can break it down to what you need. pm me.

Nem would be a really quick way to foul up with water chemistry in such a small tank. I would save that for a ways down the road when they're much bigger and hardier.

Sure you can add an anemone. I always have a BTA in a 10G for the babies when they are about a month old and even less.

Call Reed and ask for a small pack of A size topdressed (red), they usually have it in stock. Get B2 and C2 as well. Your babies should be taking b1 at this age already.

Reeds sell a otohime starter pack for $60. it has like 6 differernt sizes of otohime i think. from A to S2 or something like that. i am still on my start pack. a little goes a long way.. i would start them on B soon.

They are busy are not they. What are you planning to do with so many clowns =)?

they are. I have a tank at the office and I have friends with saltwater tank. Probably give some away.

Last sunday, we were out all day. No one was home to feed the fish. i got home around 10pm, did the usual feeding but I added an extra pinch. Right before bed time, I ran down to do a quick video to update this thread and every fry was dying. I am not sure what went wrong. could it be that I over fed them?

I decided to do a quick water change. As I was dripping the new water in, I notice a couple fry was swimming more normal. I was only able to save 8 fry. :headwally: Lesson learn for me. Don't leave all day and don't over feed.

I will have a video of the remaining 8 tomorrow.

Again, sorry about the loss dude.

so where's the video?

Also, last year, I read on our local dfwmas about using a small clay pot and putting it close to where the clowns lay their eggs, then removing that on the day you think the eggs will hatch and transferring to your setup tank, this way, you don't have to worry about trying to catch all the fry. that said, however, i do like the box you created, and if it's working, great!

ouch that sux. water quality is the biggest problem

yea, I will know this for next time.

Thx man. Here is the video of them. They look to be doing very well.

Amazing. Everytime mine lay eggs, I'm tempted to want to do this. Then I see the level of effort, and decide to let nature take its course :)

Well done!
