Fry trap collector

Can someone answer this question for me????
When using the trap how long do you wait to turn on the little led light that comes with the trap after you turn out the main lights?

I turn the light on immediately after lights out and all my power heads and sump pump is turned off.
Hope this helps.

Hope to get a few fry tonight. I have tried fot the past two nights doing that exactly and no hatchlings waited for 2-3 hrs.

I usually count 8 days after my clowns lay eggs if my tank is a consistant 80 degrees. The day they lay I do not count. So if they lay on Sunday day 1 is Monday so my collect night is the following monday. When all the eyes turn silverI know they are going to hatch. So on hatch night I usually wait until normal time my lights go out then I make sure all ambient light is blocked out except for the led on the catcher. This includes the light in my sump and all light in the room! I turn off all water movement and wait. I learned not to use a flashlight to check on the hatch! This seems to delay the process. I will sit in my dark family room where my tank is and watch the little clowns start swimming for the LED. Hope it goes well for you.

Thanks for the info I did that for 4 nights staying up till 11:30 and only ended up with two on the last night. I think my cardinals was eating them as they hatched I kept trying to keep them away but I think they got them anyways. Will try again with next batch.

Mine hatch within an hour after the lights are off. The process takes anywhere from 0ne to four hours.
If all eggs do not have silver eyes, theses are non viable eggs, and the clowns will take care of them.

Try taking daily pictures of the egg clutch and post them so we can see what your seeing :)
HTH's.....

Can you take the item out thats the eggs are layed on? It's much easier hatching them in a separate tank. If not maybe you can sneak a tile or something in the area where they lay and get them to use it.

I am getting really frustrated with this fry trap collector all I am getting is those blasted baby fireworms going straight for the light then into the trap they go. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you reslove it?

I'm sorry to hear your having such a hard time setting up the fry collector.....

Could you take a video of your set up?

Maybe we can see what going on with your set up...

I don't have a camera to take a video all I have is my phone and when I tried to take a video and send it via message to my work email address it said the file was to big.
Those worms are attracted to the light.. As soon as they get to the light up they go into the trap just like the fry is suppose to do..
And last night should have been hatch night but not a single egg hatched.
The first five-six days the tank temp has been 80-82 but for whatever reason tank temp dropped to 77-78 on day 7 & 8. Checked heaters and both red lights are on.

Here is how I have it set up:

and here is my contraption that I put up to keep the other fish away on hatch night.

I cant see the water line in the picture?
So are you turning off ALL the pumps?
Where is the water line on the collector when you turn off your pumps?

Have you tried uploading your video to photobucket? if so, you should be able post it....

Your contraptions to keep the fish away looks very interesting...

All pumps & powerheads are off.
The waterline on the fry trap is just below the rim of the trap by about 1/4".
Well 90% do have silver they are just not hatching I was up till almost midnight and only 5 hatched and there are still eggs left on the rock. This happened before I waited up for 4 nights only to get 4 fry but the last time it was a cardinal that had gotten the ones that I missed and that is how I came up with that contraption...
Now the bad news is I accidently broke the little light bulb that goes into that light for the fry trap.
Where can I go and get another one or do I have to order it from Chad the one who made this fry trap collector?
I will try to take a video tonight and see how to download it to photobucket tomorrow.

Are you counting the day they laid the eggs as day 1?

Bummer on the light.... I have no idea where he purchases them from... Try Google...

I caught only 10 and looks like they all died except for one but probably on his way out when I looked in the bucket he was going in circles.
I turned everything off at 9:20is then waited about 30 min turned on my little light and saw a cardinal that had got through my contraption well scopped him out and fixed the barracde so they could not get through again.. Waited and waited they would only hatch like 1-3 at a time all the way till 1am and I gave up. There were eggs left on the rock when I went to bed but when I got up all was gone. I am trying to check the videos that I downloaded to photobucket before I post them...
