my tank location was downgraded to the basement so i upgraded to larger tank.
i have a homemade canopy and stand that was built like a tank. i went over board. i currently have pine car siding painted black on the stand and canopy. the siding can be removed and replaced with whatever you choose even while the tank is up and running. this is what i intended to do. i have a few pics below and will post more tonite.
tank has a horizontal overflow for maximum use of tank space. it is drilled for a closed loop. intake bulkhead is 1.5in and output is two 1" bulkheads. (i had a sequence snapper on this cl and it worked great, lots of turbulent flow but not too much). the tank is plumbed to a 20g sump with baffles.
the canopy "breaks or opens" in the middle with a piano hinge. this was the best design for providing room for tank maintenance and if i built another canopy i would use the same design. the canopy houses a 250W MH retro with SE 10k ushio and 2 24in HO T5's for supplement. the MH moves on a track so you can push it forward or back while working on the tank.
$300--tank, stand, canopy, sump and all the plumbing. all you need is a return pump and CL pump and its ready to go.
$175-- SE 250W MH retro w/ electronic ballast and 10k ushio in service for 5 mos. (orig $290)
$80--2 24in SLS T5 retro with blue +, super actinic bulb
if you take all --tank, canopy stand, sump and lighting-- ill sell for $500 and will throw in the mag7 and an extra super actinic t5 bulb.
also have:
$90--eheim 1260 used for only 1mo
$30--mag7
i tried to explain everything so as to answer all questions but let me know if there is anything you would like to know. below are some pics and i will post more tonite.
canopy during construction with mh. t5s not in there yet
without stand door --shows sump
back of tank shows plumbing with shutofffs and quick disconnect unions for easy services of pumps while tank is running.
shows location of bulkheads
wont piece out lighting until someone takes the tank.
