Aquactinics are considered very good equipment. Plus this one is "beefed up" with IceCap materials (ballasts, fans, and single lens reflectors). It's very well-made and it does come with a splashshield included. I'm pretty sure legs can be purchased separately for it.

The bulb in it are too old...you would want to purchase new ones...certainly you can get any brand you like, but I'm personally partial to Geismann lamps...they always gave me great color w/ this fixture and I'm using 14 36" lamps on my new 180!!

Looks like a beast of a fixture. The cost of bulbs plus this would = my wife selling my kidneys. I will have a talk with her see what she says.

Trust me I will she works once a week down in Lakeland. Would you be able to deliver it to her job if she gives me the green light? She works at the JC Penney Down there. She visits the store once a week to make sure they are up to par.

Question did you have this fixture hanging or place right on top of the tank? LIke if I wanted to could I just lay it on top since it has a splash shield?

With a 6 bulb fixture that would get pretty hot sitting right on top of the tank. I just changed from a 4 to a 6 bulb fixture, and mine is about 5 inches above the surface, and it raised my temps by about 3* quick.

Dugg's right...you COULD sit it on there, but you wouldn't really want to...I had it in a canopy that had cleats it sat on...approx. 4" from the water. The fans in it do help w/ the heat, but it will definitely raise your tank temp.
